Being Able to Work Online

Because of the coronavirus situation, my face-to-face intercultural and leadership programs have been postponed. Luckily, however, my online intercultural and business coaching sessions are scheduled and delivered regularly. I’m grateful I have such opportunities despite the coronavirus situation.

The otherday, I saw some post on Facebook (unfortunately I don’t remember whose post it was) suggesting to use “because of” instead of “despite of.”

So I applied it to my earlier thought about this situation. “I have online work opportunities because of the coronavirus situation.”

When I was working full-time at a university in Osaka, it was my dream to work as an independent business owner, and I was dreaming to work online with people from all over the world. The book “Shift” influenced me a lot to have this kind of workstyle. This was when my interest in coaching grew stronger.

After moving to Korea, and going through a divorce, I had no choice but to become an independent business owner, and I invested my time and resources more in coaching and online program delivery.

Now, I’m truly proud of the choices I made. I can enjoy freedom how I use time. I can connect with people from all over the world and support their success: An American expat family moving to Kobe, a Korean Family living in Yokohama, a Brazilian CMO working in Soul. And even during the coronavirus outbreak, I get to work with these people. I feel that because of the coronavirus outbreak, I’m more conscious about how to leverage online work skills.

I’m grateful I can work online. I love technologies, so I want to invest more in learning how to use it effectively, so that I can support more people from more countries.
